“Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside.”

- Ramana Maharshi

What Ekaanta represents

eikant:

EIK + UHNT = ONE + END
n: tranquillity and solitude.

For many, the Sanskrit word ‘eikant’ lends itself to many different interpretations. In its simplest form, it is a place of calm. In its most profound, it is our ability to go to the mind’s ‘quiet place’ for seeking seclusion and serenity from the world that surrounds us. In a sense, ‘eikant’ is distinct from loneliness, being more about conscious, mindful ‘apartness’ that allows us to gain a dispassionate view on the world, while still being emotionally connected to it.

Drawing inspiration from this philosophy, Ekaanta: Mindversity on the Ganges invites you on a journey into mindfulness and self-discovery.

Our Founders

Shradha Lohia grew up in Calcutta amidst an eclectic cultural and spiritual era. Over the years, she had an innate yearning to delve deeper and spent several decades embracing this calling with a heightened zeal. Her practices led her to see how the power of mindfulness brought a significant transformation in people

Shradha’s journey along the spiritual path led her to profound spiritual expereinces with Masters from across the Globe. This further strengthened her resolve to create an accessible, standalone destination to share this rich, transformational, spritual knowledge with everyone.

The idea of creating Ekaanta germinated over a long, introspection of ten years. The word itself is close to her heart – Ekaanta means solitude but not loneliness. Ekaanta has been her own philosophy of life, one that enables one to believe in the Pause.

The location for Ekaanta was obviously a very critical element, as Shradha firmly believed that a knowledge centre should be associated with a seat of learning. Haridwar was the ideal place, as it has traditionally been associated with learning and knowledge. By the Ganges, and at the base of the Shivaliks, the atmosphere is transformational and hence Ekaanta came to life.

Saumya Lohia Agarwal is the co-founder of Ekaanta. She grew up with strong spiritual practices, an aspect she was fortunately introduced to early in her childhood. While studying in Dehradun, visits to Haridwar were a staple part of her holidays.

Her varied experiences across India and the US, led her to explore mindfulness centred practices with a fervour. Later, for years her quest for a standalone destination that imparted this knowledge and practices yielded no result. She realised mindfulness is no longer a luxury but a necessity and to address this need, Ekaanta was created right along the Ganges at Haridwar.

Saumya is very passionate about spearheading Ekaanta as a standalone, experiential destination focused exclusively on mindfulness centric practices. Her vision for Ekaanta is to enable each participant to experience deeper awareness, peace and inner growth.
Saumya holds Honours in Bachelor of Arts (Economics and Mathematics; Sequence in Financial Economics) from the prestigious Claremont McKenna College, USA. She graduated cum laude.

Her impressive career graph also includes working as an Investment Banking Analyst for Goldman Sachs, New York and Springboard, Mumbai. Saumya has been featured in YFLO Delhi & is a part of YPO Global One. She is also an independent director with PNB Finance and Industries Ltd. listed on the CSE.
