About Ekaanta

Solitude, not loneliness. A place to return to yourself.

A riverside Ayurvedic wellness retreat in Haridwar, created around the rare pause that allows the mind to quieten, the body to restore and inner awareness to deepen.

“Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside.”

Ramana Maharshi
What Ekaanta represents

A quiet place within the mind.

eikant:

EIK + UHNT = ONE + END

n: tranquillity and solitude.

In its simplest form, Ekaanta is a place of calm. In its most profound form, it is the mind’s quiet place: a conscious retreat from noise that allows us to see life with greater clarity while remaining emotionally connected to it.

This is different from loneliness. Ekaanta is chosen solitude, a pause that makes space for self-observation, healing and inner steadiness.

Drawing from this philosophy, Ekaanta on the Ganges brings together Ayurveda, mindfulness, nature and intentional hospitality in one intimate destination.

What Ekaanta represents

What guides the Ekaanta experience

Luxury here is not excess. It is time, attention, privacy and care. Every space and programme is designed to help guests reconnect with themselves, with nature and with a more sustainable way of living well.

Our Mission

To create a safe, welcoming and deeply considered wellness experience where guests can explore their inner lives, restore physical and mental balance and form meaningful connections that continue beyond their stay.

We aim to combine attentive hospitality with personalised care, giving each guest the time and space required for genuine renewal.

Our Vision

To become a leading destination for mental wellness, personal growth and spiritual rejuvenation, rooted in the living traditions of Haridwar and the restorative presence of the Ganges.

Our vision is a community of guests who leave Ekaanta feeling clearer, steadier and better equipped to create positive change in their own lives.

As seen in

Ekaanta is built on a simple belief: meaningful change begins when life becomes quiet enough for you to listen.

Our founders

A vision shaped across generations

Ekaanta grew from a shared conviction that mindfulness is not a luxury. It is a necessity, particularly in a world defined by constant movement, distraction and pressure.

Founder

Shradha Lohia

Shradha Lohia grew up in Calcutta during an eclectic cultural and spiritual era. Her own practices and encounters with spiritual masters revealed how mindfulness could create meaningful change in people’s lives.

The idea of Ekaanta developed over a decade of reflection. The name was deeply personal to her: solitude without loneliness, and the belief that transformation begins with a deliberate pause.

Haridwar was central to that vision. Its history as a seat of learning, its position at the base of the Shivaliks and the presence of the Ganges created the setting in which Ekaanta could take form.

Co-Founder

Saumya Lohia Agarwal

Saumya Lohia Agarwal was introduced to spiritual practices early in life. Her years studying in Dehradun also made visits to Haridwar a recurring part of her childhood and strengthened her connection with the region.

Experiences across India and the United States deepened her interest in mindfulness-centred practices. Unable to find a standalone destination that brought this knowledge together in an accessible, experiential form, she helped create Ekaanta on the banks of the Ganges.

Her vision is to make Ekaanta a focused destination where every participant can experience deeper awareness, inner peace and sustained personal growth.

Saumya graduated cum laude from Claremont McKenna College with honours in Economics and Mathematics and a sequence in Financial Economics. Her professional experience includes roles at Goldman Sachs in New York and Springboard in Mumbai.
